The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a globally recognized professional certification in management accounting and financial management, issued by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, USA. The CMA validates expertise in financial planning, analysis, control, decision support, and professional ethics — skills critical for senior finance roles worldwide.

Eligibility & Registration

  • Educational qualification: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in any discipline (candidates may sit the exam before completing their degree, but certification is granted only after)
  • Active IMA membership – Student, Academic or Professional tier (Student tier offers fee discounts)
  • CMA Entrance Fee paid to IMA to activate candidacy (valid 3 years, during which both exam parts must be passed)
  • 2 years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management – completed before or within 7 years of passing the exam
  • Documents required: Passport, degree certificate/transcripts, IMA membership proof, and a passport-size photo. (Non-English documents need to have a translated copy signed by the authorised translator and notary both.)
